Transfer of the turning moment to the leading bridges is carried out by driveshafts (fig. 3.75) of open type, each of which has mobile shlitsevy connection and on two cardan hinges.
Design of back and forward driveshafts identical. They differ only in length, and also by the fact that back driveshafts have a thin-walled pipe 13 (fig. 3.75), and lobbies are carried out combined from a pipe and a shaft.
Vents of driveshafts can be two types – pryamobochny or evolvent.
Lengths of driveshafts and their applicability on models of cars are shown in tab. 3.4 and 3.5.

Maintenance
Periodically check an inhaling of bolts of fastening of flanges of driveshafts to flanges of the transfer case and the leading gear wheel of the main transfer of forward and back bridges. Check gaps at hinges and shlitsevy connection, grease them according to indications of the table of greasing.
Tighten bolts of fastening of flanges to the full.
For greasing use the syringe with a special tip. This tip is put on the syringe and is included in the package of the tool of the driver.
It is not necessary to enter into vents excessive lubricant as she will jump out of shlitsevy connection that will lead to premature failure of epiploons and can beat out a cap of the sliding fork. Driveshafts do not demand any adjustments.

Repair
Driveshafts are balanced dynamically. Eliminate an imbalance with welding of plates on the ends of a shaft. At an individual method of repair establish details, suitable for further work, on former places where they were earned extra. Mark such details before removal in any way, not defiant their damage (paint, a kerneniye, etc.).
For repair remove a shaft from the car.
 Dismantling of the driveshaft
1. Turn off a holder 12 (see fig. 3.75) omental consolidation of shlitsevy connection, previously having corrected it in places of a kerneniye, and shift consolidation towards a pipe.

Measure the indicator a radial gap of shliyets of the driveshaft (fig. 3.76) at distance of 75-80 mm from the shlitsevy end of a fork in two perpendicular planes and write down its size.
Separate shlitsevy connection of a shaft, remove rings 9 (see fig. 3.75), 10, 11 and I will embrace 12.
2. Remove by means of the screw-driver lock rings 2.
3. Vypressuyte by means of adaptation 71-2427 glasses of needle bearings from openings of ushk of forks also disconnect Cardan's forks.
4. Clear and wash out all details of the driveshaft.
 Assessment of technical condition of details of the driveshaft

1. Correct or replace the bent shaft. After editing the admissible beating of a shaft has to be no more than 0,6 mm in any point on its length (fig. 3.77). Govern a shaft on prisms.
2. Replace a crosspiece if:
– diameter of thorns is less than 16,26 mm;
– on thorns there are longitudinal dents;
– crosspiece necks under a cuff are strongly worn-out.
3. Replace epiploons of face sealants at wear or damage of their working edges.
4. Replace needle bearings if:
– bearings shake on thorns;
– one of needles is lost or deformed.
5. Replace worn-out details of shpilevy connection of the driveshaft if the radial gap in vents exceeds 1,3–1,5 mm.
6. Replace worn-out forks if diameter of an opening under the bearing more than 30,02 mm or the size between the planes of ushk of a fork exceeds the size of 60,1 mm.
7. Replace a rubber or felt ring at their wear or damage.
8. Replace a holder of consolidation of shlitsevy connection if the female thread of a holder is stripped.
9. At wear or breakage of separate details of a shaft replace a shaft if there is no opportunity it to balance. Replacement of a set of a crosspiece with bearings and epiploons assembled without balancing of a shaft is allowed if at the same time vibration does not appear.
 Assembly of the driveshaft
1. Establish the end of the driveshaft on shlitsevy I will embrace 12 (see fig. 3.75), a felt ring 10, a rubber ring 11 and rings 9.
Before assembly of shlitsevy connection impregnate with lubricant a felt ring 10 and grease vents.
2. Collect shlitsevy connection so that forks of cardan hinges were in one plane;
deviation of no more than 5 °. For this purpose combine tags (arrow) made before dismantling.
3. Screw a holder 12 to the full and a zakernita in two opposite places so that the edge of a holder was a little bent in bore of the sliding fork.

4. Establish crosspieces and forks of hinges so that the press butterdishes of shlitsevy connection and a crosspiece located at the bridge were in one plane and on one party of a shaft, and a slippery jack of a crosspiece of the opposite end of a shaft – on 90 ° counterclockwise if to look from the side of the bridge (fig. 3.78).
5. Fix a fork with a crosspiece in adaptation or a vice and press glasses of needle bearings in eyes. At the same time you watch that the working edge of epiploons of face sealants of bearings was not wrapped.
Establish in grooves of glasses lock rings 2.
6. Collect the cardan hinge of the opposite end of a shaft in the above-stated way.
7. Grease before assembly hinges Litol-24 lubricant for what fill with lubricant each bearing on 1/2 its volumes.
8. After assembly check:
– ease of movement of forks of the hinge. Forks have to move (without jamming) by hand;
– the size of angular movement in hinges of the assembled driveshaft. The size of angular movement for one hinge should not exceed 0,3 mm (the nominal size of 0,23 mm) on the radius of 35 mm under the influence of torque of 98-117 N · m (10–12 kgfs · м).
When replacing flanges or forks balance a collected shaft dynamically. An imbalance, admissible after repair, – no more than 26 гс · see.
